1. Information We Do Not Collect

ZipKeep does not collect, request, record, or transmit any personally identifiable information ("Personal Data"). Specifically, we do not collect:

• Names, email addresses, or contact information
• Device identifiers, IP addresses, or location data
• Usage analytics, crash reports, or telemetry
• Advertising identifiers or tracking data
• Contents of your files or archives

The App does not transmit any data from your device. No network communication of any kind is initiated by the App.

2. Information Stored Locally on Your Device

The App stores the following data exclusively on your Mac, within the operating system's sandboxed container, inaccessible to other apps or to the Developer:

• User Preferences — Your chosen settings (archive format, compression level, interface preferences) are saved in the app sandbox using macOS UserDefaults.
• Operation History — File names, dates, and sizes of up to 50 recent archive operations are stored locally for your convenience.
• Passwords (optional) — If you enable "Remember in Keychain" in Settings, archive passwords are stored in the macOS Keychain, encrypted by the operating system. Passwords are protected by macOS security and, optionally, by biometric authentication (Touch ID). Passwords never leave the Keychain and are never accessible to the Developer.

None of this data is transmitted, synchronized, backed up to any server, or accessible to the Developer or any third party.

3. Biometric Data

ZipKeep may use macOS Touch ID (via the LocalAuthentication framework) to authenticate access to saved passwords. Biometric data is processed entirely by the operating system. The App never receives, stores, or has access to your biometric data. The App only receives a success or failure response from the system.

4. File Access

The App accesses only files you explicitly select through macOS file dialogs (Open/Save panels) or drag-and-drop. File access is governed by macOS App Sandbox and security-scoped bookmarks. The App cannot access files without your explicit action.

5. Notifications

The App may display local notifications (e.g., "Compression complete"). These are generated and displayed on-device only and do not involve any server communication.

6. Third-Party Code

The App bundles the 7-Zip compression engine by Igor Pavlov, licensed under GNU LGPL. This component runs entirely on your device, has no network access, and does not collect or transmit any data.

7. Encryption

The App provides AES-256 encryption for archive files at the user's explicit request. Encryption and decryption occur entirely on-device. No encryption keys, passwords, or encrypted content are transmitted to any server or third party.

8. Children's Privacy

The App does not collect Personal Data from any user, regardless of age. The App does not contain any features that collect, share, or disclose information from or about children. The App complies with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) provisions for children, and the UK Age Appropriate Design Code.

9. Your Rights Under Applicable Law

Because the App does not collect or process any Personal Data, the rights granted under the following regulations are satisfied by design:

• EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) — Rights to access, rectification, erasure, data portability, restriction of processing, and objection (Articles 15–21).
• California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA) — Rights to know, delete, correct, and opt out of the sale or sharing of Personal Data. We do not sell or share Personal Data.
• UK Data Protection Act 2018 — Rights mirroring the GDPR.
• Brazil Lei Geral de Proteção de Dados (LGPD) — Rights to confirmation, access, correction, anonymization, and deletion.
• Canada Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) — Rights to access and challenge compliance.

To delete all locally stored data, go to Settings → Clear History, or uninstall the App.

10. Data Retention

Locally stored preferences and history remain on your device until you clear them or uninstall the App. No data is retained by the Developer, as no data is ever transmitted.

11. Data Security

The App operates within the macOS App Sandbox with Hardened Runtime, limiting its access to system resources. All file access requires explicit user consent. Passwords are stored using macOS Keychain Services with the protection class kSecAttrAccessibleWhenUnlockedThisDeviceOnly, ensuring they are encrypted at rest and available only when the device is unlocked.

12. Do Not Track

The App does not track users in any way. There is no mechanism to honor or disregard "Do Not Track" signals, as no tracking occurs.

13. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in the App or applicable law. The "Last updated" date will be revised. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy. Material changes will be communicated through an App update.

14. Governing Law

This Privacy Policy is governed by the laws of Poland and the European Union, without regard to conflict of law provisions.
